“Tinubu is not my president ” -Aisha Yusuf

By George Onmonya Daniel

Nigeria must improve in it’s process of electioneering. The culture of using whatever means, most of all disenfranchising the voters to win, in what Olusegun Obasanjo once described as “Do or Die Affairs” tactics must stop. If it did not stop and we continue like this, it is a recipe for trouble.

Aisha Yusuf’s recent pronouncement that Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s controversially elected president, is not her president is a message the political class has to look into. The European Union damning report on the 2023 election is what the government has to look at. Buisness cannot continue as usual. Before Aisha Yusuf, Sarah Ochekpe of Family Worship Center as issued the same statement. These voices are strong voices that cannot be ignored.

Many people have voiced out that what has been happening in Nigeria is civilian coups and not really democracy. That last election just showed us clearly why. The Nigerian government need to sit down and restore people’s faith in democracy. Nigeria does not need another military coup. Those saying it cannot happen are joking or naive. Anything can happen in a clime of injustice.
